What is an Arachnid Arid Substrate ?

A soil based substrate, perfectly blended to facilitate drainage and retain structure for burrowing species.

This substrate is perfect for use in naturalistic and Bio-active terrariums, blended to replicate an arid arachnid's natural terrain. Offering a deep substrate layer for all arachnid species is essential, deep substrate enables your pet to behave as they would in the wild; creating deep burrows and thermoregulating effectively. The excellent drainage properties of Arachnid Arid substrate also helps to ensure your pet is kept at the optimum humidity.

Our Arachnid Arid Substrate will also have minimal risk of introducing unwanted pests such as slugs, snails and gnats into your controlled environment. This substrate is also completely safe for the addition of ‘clean up crews’, such as isopods and springtails to break down waste matter and inhibit mould growth in your terrarium.

How to use Arachnid Arid Substrate

  1. Place the substrate into the enclosure. Ensure you provide the minimum recommended substrate depth recommended for your species.
  2. Many species will appreciate a ‘starter burrow’. Created easily by pressing an indent into the substrate using your hand, and covering with a hide or cork bark to create a cave effect.
  3. Spot clean regularly, removing waste and insect husks will help to minimise mould growth.
  4. Depending on the species, fully replace the substrate as desired.
