The Spider Plant is a well-known evergreen hanging house plant that originates from Southern Africa. The leaves are long and narrow and depending on the species are green with a cream edge or vice versa. They can grow/hang to around 60cm with the leaves reaching a good 20-45cm. White flowers are produced on a long thin stalk.
This is a very hardy plant and can tolerate most conditions. They prefer damp but well-drained soil with partially shaded light. If they do dry out, the leaf colour becomes pale and leaves fall off. If this does happen, by quickly resolving the conditions, the Spider Plant will bounce right back. Being a hanging/trailing plant, they are best planted high in a terrarium.
