Just need to add a few things: Calcisand is lethal to crabs and reptiles alike! A better substrate would be toddler's playsand or eco earth. All water that goes into the tank has to be dechlorinated. Hermit crabs can live for 50+ years, not 10-15. Both salt and fresh dechlorinated water must be provided. DO NOT use table salt. This may kill the crabs. Be careful of offering crabs commercial food with preservatives. These may be harmful. (I have not heard of Ice Cream cones being offered before.) All Hermit crab food should be organic with no preservatives. Humidity is a must. Hermit crab gills are specially adapted to breathe very humid air. 70/80% humidity is best.
