Export ban on Jacksons and Fischer Chameleons
Friday, 25th April 2008
Many of the CITES animals are becoming banned from export. We all need to work together to have these breeding in captivity.
We have been informed that there is an export ban on Jacksons Chameleon (Chamaeleo jacksonii merumontanus) and Fischers Chameleon (Bradypodion fischeri). We will no longer be able to offer these stunning species of Chameleons unless they are captive bred.
Along with many disappointed customers, we were shocked to hear of this information. We have been fortunate to purchase the last few Jacksons Chameleons from the 2007 quota. These will be for our own breeding program. Young will not be sold until an established colony has been produced. This may take some years but we feel this is very important to keep this species in the hobby.
If you currently have a Jacksons or Fischers Chameleon, it would be advised to try and purchase the opposite sex for breeding.
Contact us if you would like to find an opposite sex for the one you currently have.
