Great for rainforest terrariums and aquatic setups, this fast growing plant adds dense leafy foliage which is perfect for Frogs, Chameleons and arboreal Geckos.
This is an evergreen vine growing up to 20m (if left unpruned) with alternating heart shaped leaves. These leaves can be variegated, and average around 20cm in length - though in the wild, each leaf can be as large as 75cm! It can be trailing or trained to climb up poles or along wires- making it perfect for all areas of a terrarium. Will occasionally produce flower stalks with cream spathes, similar to the flower of a Peace Lily.
Native to tropical rainforests of French Polynesia, but also naturalised in South Africa, Australia, Asia and the West Indies.
These fast growing plants are perfect for rainforest environments and will thrive in hot and humid conditions. Unusually these will grow in water without any soil, making them ideal for paludariums and aquariums. They can also be planted in a warm area with moist but well drained substrate and misted with water daily to keep up humidity levels. They will happily live in partially shaded areas of a terrarium but thrive under full spectrum plant growth LED lighting. They can be fed to encourage growth using a terrarium safe biofertiliser liquid made with Superworm Frass.
