What does a New Guinea Black Tarantula look like?
The New Guinea Black Tarantula has black velvet legs with a rusty orange carapace. These do look beautiful, however, they are aggressive and will bite if provoked. Adults reach a leg span of up to 15cm.
Where are New Guinea Black Tarantula from?
They can be found living in burrows in humid areas of Papua New Guinea.
How do you keep a New Guinea Black Tarantula?
You should provide your New Guinea Black Tarantula with a deep substrate of at least 10cm, this species will burrow if given the chance. The substrate should be kept moist and allow the humidity levels to reach 80-90%. Maintain a temperature of 25-26C (77-78.8F) and allow to drop slightly at night.
We would recommend to lightly mist the enclosure every day for the humidity levels. Feed on insects such as crickets, locusts and roaches.
